Nuffield Health - Refurbishment

Nuffield Health is the UK’s largest healthcare charity, operating 31 hospitals, 112 fitness & wellbeing clubs, healthcare clinics and over 200 workplace wellbeing services. 

Issue  

With so many locations and properties, Nuffield Health has a constant requirement for refurbishment, in this case at their Chester-based gym. The gym wanted refurbishment to modernise and make sure the space was being used to its maximum potential. Considerations needed to be made to include specific spaces within the property. 

All of this needed to be done whilst ensuring the gym continued normal operations and kept disruption to a minimum on a 4 month timescale. 

Solution

We constructed an entirely new floor in order to separate the existing squash court and create new rooms. Rooms for consulting and treatment were constructed on the ground floor, whilst fitness studios were designed and built on the first floor. 

New ceilings were installed alongside wall and floor finishings to ensure the rooms were functional. We renewed the existing mechanical and electrical services, including lighting, power and ventilation.  

Outcome

All works were completed to a high standard within the allotted 4 month timesale, starting on the 1st November and finishing on the 1st March. The construction was completed to a high standard with no disruption to the gyms normal operations. We were careful to maintain close contact with the gyms staff to ensure we were able to work harmoniously without issues.
