One of our regular clients came to us to help in converting a domestic property into a residential home for children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties who display challenging behaviour.

The Issue

The building required many changes to make it both safe and practical for a residential home, as well as meeting necessary legislation. The team at EPT are well-versed and carried out a number of changes to complete this conversion successfully.

Our Approach

The team at EPT undertook a series of changes to the building in order to make it a suitable residential home. These changes included replacing all internal doors and frames to meet fire rated standards, partitioning internal walls to create additional staff bedrooms and  converting a storage room to form an additional shower/WC room. 

Additionally, to meet safety requirements, our team boxed in a wood burning stove by creating a bench seat surround, boxed in stair balustrades, installed a fully addressable fire alarm and door alarm system, and placed LED emergency lighting throughout the building. Exterior changes included putting additional fencing in the grounds and extending the car park.
